Teacher, Researcher, and Fan
As a professor, Yaszek teaches courses on science fiction, mentors students, and continues doing research on under‑recognized writers and themes. Her role shows that helping a movement can also mean preserving its history, amplifying voices, and making sure important works stay in print and in conversation.
Public Scholarship and Outreach
Yaszek doesn’t only write for experts; she appears in talks, interviews, and popular articles to bring SF history to a wider audience. This outreach helps make feminist and New Wave SF visible to people who might never take a specialized class.
The Future Is Female! Anthologies
By editing The Future Is Female! collections, Yaszek brings together classic stories by women, including many from the New Wave and feminist SF era. These anthologies make it easier for students and teachers to find and read these works in one place.
Historian of Women’s Science Fiction
Yaszek is a scholar who studies and explains the history of women in science fiction, from early pioneers to contemporary writers. Her work helps connect individual authors into a bigger story so they are seen as a movement, not isolated exceptions.
